So, This Is Living Tanmay

I've rewritten this first line about six times. That's probably a good sign I should just start, because the whole point of this blog is to stop overthinking things and actually put them out into the world. So here we go, unpolished and a little nervous, which feels like the right way to begin anything real.

My name is Tanmay Patel. I'm an Electrical Engineering student from Bilimora, a small town in Gujarat that most people outside the state have never heard of, and honestly, that's part of why I'm doing this. I don't have a big city, a famous college, or a head start. What I have is a laptop, a decent internet connection, and a habit of staying up too late reading about things I have no formal reason to be interested in — SEO, renewable energy, side income, productivity systems, whatever pulls me in that week.

This blog is where all of that goes.

Why I'm Starting This

A few months ago I realized I had three different notes apps full of half-finished thoughts about freelancing, AI tools, studying smarter, and building something of my own — and none of it was going anywhere because it was just sitting there, private, for nobody. That felt like a waste. If I'm going to spend my evenings figuring this stuff out anyway, I might as well write it down properly and let it be useful to someone else too.

There's also a more selfish reason. I'm 20-something, studying engineering in a system that doesn't leave much room for figuring out who you actually want to become. This blog is partly me documenting that process in public — the good decisions, the wrong turns, the things that worked better than I expected. If you're a student in India going through something similar, I'm hoping this ends up feeling less like a blog and more like notes passed between two people trying to figure the same things out.

What You'll Actually Find Here

I've organized things into four loose categories, mostly because my own head works better with some structure, not because I wanted this to feel like a corporate content calendar.

Digital Income & Freelancing — real, unglamorous notes on earning online as a student. Not "get rich by Friday" stuff. More like: here's what a first freelance client actually looks like, here's what I got wrong pricing my first project, here's a platform that's actually worth your time and one that isn't.

AI & Tech Tools — I use AI tools daily, for coursework, for this blog, for random curiosity. I'll write about what's genuinely useful versus what's just noise, from the point of view of someone actually using these tools, not reviewing them from a press release.

Student Life — the everyday reality of being a student in Gujarat right now. Balancing engineering coursework with everything else, dealing with the pressure to have it all figured out, and being honest when I don't.

Productivity — systems and habits I've tested on myself first. If something didn't work for me, I'll say so instead of pretending every technique is life-changing.

A Small Promise

I won't pretend to be an expert dropping wisdom from above. I'm figuring most of this out as I go, in real time, with the same limited resources and time pressure a lot of you probably have. What I can promise is that everything here comes from something I actually tried, read carefully, or messed up myself — not recycled advice I found floating around the internet.

This is post number one. There's no big launch, no polished portfolio of articles behind it, just this. If that sounds like something worth following, stick around. I'll be here most weeks, writing about whatever I'm currently in the middle of figuring out.
